MetLife PDP and PDP Plus plans are accepted at our practice. MetLife is one of the most common dental insurers for federal employees and corporate group plans. We bill MetLife directly so you only pay your portion at checkout.

We participate with the Zelis dental network, which administers benefits for a wide range of self-funded employer plans. If your insurance card lists Zelis as the network, we can process your claim directly.
We accept GEHA Connection Dental and GEHA’s federal dental plans. GEHA is a popular choice for federal employees and retirees in the Rockville and Bethesda area, and most plans include strong preventive and basic service coverage.

If you have a PPO insurance plan that we are in-network with, you’ll typically pay lower out-of-pocket costs at our office. We’ve negotiated reduced fees with these insurance providers as part of being in-network.
If your insurance provider is not in-network with our practice, your out-of-pocket cost will be slightly higher, but your insurance can still reimburse you for a portion of your treatment cost. We’ll happily file your claim for you.
Before your first appointment, our team contacts your insurance provider to verify your active coverage, deductible, annual maximum, and the percentage covered for the treatment you need.
This means there are no surprises at checkout. You’ll know your estimated out-of-pocket cost before any treatment begins.
Answers to the most common questions our Rockville patients ask about dental insurance.
Yes. The plans listed above are the most common ones, but we work with many other insurance providers as well. Even if we’re not in-network with your specific plan, we can still file your claim and your insurance may reimburse you for a portion of your treatment. Call us at (301) 231-0173 and we’ll verify your coverage for free.
Within the last 10 to 20 years, Medicare has stopped paying for routine dental treatments. However, Medicare does cover Oral Appliance Therapy for the treatment of obstructive sleep apnea, which we provide at our practice.
No. PPO insurance plans do not require a referral before visiting the dentist. These plans begin covering your treatment plan only after you have paid your full deductible.
We welcome patients without insurance. If you pay in full, in advance, with cash or check, you can receive up to a 5% courtesy credit on your estimated out-of-pocket expense. We also partner with Alphaeon and CareCredit, which are third-party financing companies that offer low- and no-interest payment plans.
It can, depending on the treatment. Many medical insurance plans cover treatments for sleep apnea, snoring, TMD, facial pain, and headaches that traditional dental insurance won’t. At Rockville Family Dental, we’re able to bill both your medical and dental insurance providers when applicable.
Our team will verify your benefits before your appointment and provide you with a written treatment plan that includes your estimated insurance coverage and your estimated out-of-pocket cost. You’ll have the full picture before any work begins.
Yes. Your insurance coverage is often determined by your employer, not just by the insurance company. Two patients with the same insurance provider but different employers may have very different benefits, deductibles, and annual maximums.
Call our Rockville, MD office and we’ll verify your coverage in minutes. No obligation, no surprise bills.
